Part of King’s College London, the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience is a leading European centre for mental health and neuroscience research and the largest in the United Kingdom. Through world class research, education and training, IoPPN staff and students advance understanding, prevention and treatment of mental illness and other conditions that affect the brain. South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is one of the worlds most established mental health providers, with origins dating to 1247 when the Priory of St Mary of Bethlehem was founded in the City of London. Today we provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the United Kingdom, serving around 1.3 million people across Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon, and delivering national and specialist services. Each year we care for more than 5,000 inpatients and support over 40,000 people in the community.
